THE COZY CORNER
Feel Good 40
41:09 | Intuitive Slow Flow
INFO Today I slowed down and gave myself an intuitive movement sequence I've titled "Feel Good 40" - I went into this practice without any real plan, other than honoring my body and energy levels. I hope it resonates with you; feel free to take what you like, leave what you don't, and listen authentically to your own internal levels.
Flow & Restore 60
57:39 | Slow Flow + Restorative
INFO This class was previously homed with the Humble Haven video library. They have recently updated their offerings, so I am re-potting this Flow & Restore 60 min practice here in The Hermit Lab! A lovely mixture of feel-good movement and periods of rest, I hope you encounter your peaceful side as you make your gentle way through the sequence.
Sunday Morning Coffee
37:21 | Slow Flow + Journaling
INFO Make your best mug of Sunday morning coffee and join me for some introspective movement. Have a pillow, blanket, journal, and pen nearby - and light some candles for the full cozy experience! Today I rolled straight out of bed (...briefly through the kitchen...) and onto my mat for some meaningful intention setting. After a brief slow and intuitive practice, I offer up 3 simple yet impactful journaling prompts to empower you to set the tone for your week ahead. May your Sunday be slow, easy, and thoughtful.
Low Power Mode
49:10 | Chill Power Vinyasa
INFO Welcome to Low Power Mode... Now, I love the Baptiste JIP (Journey Into Power) sequence, but sometimes it truly just requires too much energy for me. All those chaturangas, have mercy!! But here, I take this sequence that I know inside/out and adapt it to when I/you/we are feeling rather sluggish, but still want to move. It's an excellent sequence to mold and modify to fit your particular mood and vibe of the moment, and I've done exactly that in this 50-minute adaptation of the JIP sequence. Hope you enjoy, and this can inspire you to move even if you don't really feel like it.
Cool Your Jets
48:12 | Chill Rocket Vinyasa
INFO "Cool Your Jets" invites you to take a calmer approach to the Rocket Vinyasa sequence - riffing off of the Rocket Fundamentals, I take away, sprinkle in some stretchy delights, and swirl it down to the ground with some classic closing postures. I hope you enjoy a more relaxed take on a generally more athletic sequence!
Calmandala Down
34:06 | Slow Mandala Flow
INFO A mandala is a geometric configuration of symbols used to create focus and establish a sacred space. A mandala-inspired yoga flow oftentimes takes the practitioner on a big, circular flow around the mat and back again. In "Calmandala Down" - I use the around-the-world inspiration both in postures and in music in a calm and low to the ground celebration of space. Join me!
Bleary & Dreary
39:14 | Slow Flow
INFO I rolled out of bed into a grey, overcast morning and decided to hit my mat before I had even enjoyed my warm, creamy cup of coffee. Bleary-eyed with a dreary backdrop, I arranged some enchanting tunes and strung together a slow-moving sequence that might be Rocket-derived if you look close enough. Join me for 39 minutes of grey-morning-goodness.
Yin Motion
54:03 | Slow Flow
INFO Welcome to Yin Motion - a slow-moving practice that carries you sweetly from posture to posture. Yin asanas are typically held for longer periods of time, so the "motion" aspect of this encourages a sort of slow, calculated, and viscous transition as we carve our way through space. The playlist is made of of some of my favorite slow songs that slap a little too hard for a typical yin class - so bopping around, wiggles, and slow-dancing with self is highly encouraged. Complete with a savasana sandwich surrounding various standing/seated/prone/reclined postures, I hope this 54 minute sequence is one you frequent often.
Cor Meum
38:30 | Slow Flow (heart-focused)
INFO Gift wrapped just for you on Valentine's Day, "Cor Meum" is a loving practice from my heart for your heart. Clocking in at just under 40 minutes, we move slowly and richly as we express the tender heart space up, down, and all around. With a sweetly curated playlist compiled to inspire love and a brief loving-kindness meditation to close us out, may this practice remind you to live from, through, and for your heart today and all days. May every day be some kind of love day!
Lux / Nox
33:31 | Candlelight Vinyasa
INFO Welcome to my first class intended specifically for a candelight setting of your own design. Turning to the latin root words for light (lux) and night (nox), may you create a special little cave for yourself for a deep evening practice where we slowly and richly navigate around our space. With a bookend of meditation employing the agni mudra, this practice promises sweetness, grounding, and inspiration.
In & Out
41:47 | Vinyasa (hip-focused)
INFO Welcome to a chill 42-minute vinyasa class dubbed "In & Out" - sorry, no burgers here! Rather, the sequence bops back and forth between a closed hip followed by an open hip posture. Our hips literally do so much in the joint, so moving between internal/external rotation, flexion/extension, adduction/abduction, and all the possible combinations therein - I figured it was easiest to just call it "in & out." Cute too, because it's a nod to the simplest mantra possible regarding breath as well. Just in... and out. Easy peasy!
Reset Button
42:06 | Recovery
INFO I hope you enjoy this 42-ish minute sequence of movement mechanics geared toward corporal recovery. "Reset Button" is not so much a flow of postures strung together, but rather an opportunity to investigate range of motion via articular rotations and tend to stretching the meridian lines of the body. Mainly, this class is inspired by the Meridian Yoga classes taught at The Yoga Dojo in Richmond, VA - where several teachers have studied under Rose Erin Vaughan who is passionate about meridians and acupressure. Springtime always has me feeling like I'm peeling off the caked crust of wintertime, so I needed to hit my own Reset Button - I hope this practice leaves you feeling fresh and renewed!
Body Wash
1:22:10 | Slow Flow / Recovery
INFO For the LAST HERMIT LAB OF 2020 (!!!) we take our sweet time to wash away 2020 from our bodies. One hour and twenty minutes, to be approximately exact. Cozy up, light some candles, turn up the music, and settle into yourself. Body Wash is a moving & meditative journey between savasanas - visiting all the major parts of our bodies from the feet, up the legs, all around the hips, through the trunk and spine, into the shoulders, from the hands up the arms, and eventually out through the crown of the head. Body Wash is a metaphor for shedding, scrubbing, and releasing the various locks our bodies have unknowingly created, so that we may often into our closing savasana with total ease. Upon awakening, may we rise again and move forward as a fresh version of our best self - today and every day we move from the confines of our mat back into the world. Happy new year. Let’s close it out sweetly.
Restorative + Niyamas
43:04 | Restorative (in bed)
INFO The fraternal twin to my Yin & Yamas class (found in the Alphabet Series) - I bring you "Restorative + Niyamas." In this 43-minute practice, we lean heavily into the internal nature of the winter season. Wrap yourself up in allllll your cozy layers, grab a fur baby, pile up the pillow mountain, and tuck in for this deeply calming restorative practice. We'll visit 5 restorative postures and once we land in each, I read excerpts from Deborah Adele's book "The Yamas & Niyamas" on each of the 5 Niyamas - the second limb of yoga laying out personal observances to adopt for ourselves. I hope you enjoy this inward turning, sighing into deep rest, and ruminating on this limb of yogic philosophy that is truly so applicable to our daily lives. Enjoy your rest.
The Flow For Your "Flow"
38:55 | Restorative for menstrual well-being (in bed)
INFO Welcome to a 40-minute restorative class for people with periods. I offer up tons of suggestions when it comes to atmosphere, props, things to have nearby, poses, pranayama, and more... but ultimately YOU are in charge of achieving your maximum comfort in this practice set in your very own bed. Thank you for joining me during such a sensitive time. I hope this sweet sequence can bring you a bit of comfort, relief, and nurturing time with yourself.
