Wrist Routine
9:20 | Wrist/hand/forearm exercises
INFO Quickle #2 is all about fortifying your wrists, hands, and forearms. Whether you are an avid vinyasa practitioner, an aspiring hand balancer, or spend a lot of time typing at your computer, this is an excellent routine to build strength, mobility, and durability in the wrist joints. I recommend trying all of these exercises and then adopting as many as you like into your own pre-class warm up so you don't just go flying into a flurry of chaturangas willy-nilly. As always, I hope you enjoyed your quickle!

Hallway Parade
5:14 | Traveling Movements
INFO I LOVE THIS ONE!! Traveling movements have always been such a fave in my life - from gymnastics days, to across-the-floor in dance classes, to circus conditioning, animal-inspired movements have brought me to where I am today. I knew I wanted to share this style of movement with my hermits, but the space issue always proved a bit tricky. I finally just said, you know what - I have a hallway, so here we go! What you'll see here in this video's collection is only a fraction of what I've got up my sleeve when it comes to a nice, long, traveling movement party. I can't wait to host another workshop where we can be all up and down the room together again safely!! I've sped these movements up so consider this quickle as more of a demonstration and an offering up of various traveling exercises. Take what you like, make some other stuff up, and I wish you SO much fun with your own hallway parade! (Might I suggest jamming out to some Electro Swing music to keep you bouncy!)

Got the Shakes
6:44 | Qigong-inspired body shaking
INFO For the 10th quickle, we've got the shakes! Implementing a shaking practice that comes from Qigong, we use our hands to wash, scrub, slap, wake up, and stimulate our bodies and skin followed by a series of body shaking as we go down and rebound away from the earth. It's an incredibly revitalizing practice and it doesn't take long to get the body warmed up and ready for movement or even to just take on your day. Practice this in the morning or before you're expected to have a lot of energy!

It's rare for me to sit and talk to the camera :-P so I hope it all makes sense that you can follow along! Enjoy!

We've got rocks, we've got rolls, direction changes, somersaults & handstands, and you already know I threw in gymnastic salutes when it felt right. Warm up your wrists, awaken your spine, & take a down dog or two prior to pressing play because once it pops off, we are OUTTA here!!

Puppy Press
11:11 | Breakdown of inversion entry
INFO I had a request to address the elusive puppy press, and I happily obliged! I looove side pressing up into an inversion; it's probably my favorite entry into the upside down space. For today's quickle, I demo/talk through it live while laying out the skills one would want to have comfortably before attempting a puppy press. Inside, you'll find various exercises to practice, the breakdown of the body mechanics in various planes, and a smattering of inversions we can arrive to with this entry. I hope you enjoy!

INFO Headstand + Meditation = Head-itation. #yogamath! For our 16th quickle, I calmly talk you through a 5-minute classical bound headstand and keep you in constant presence of your breath. Come get a taste the nectar of immortality that resides in the crown of your skull as we abide in the king of all postures - salamba sirsasana. (might I recommend that you have a comfortable bound headstand before attempting any prolonged periods of time up there!)

The Countdown
9:52 | Dare I call this... a workout??
INFO Dare I call our 18th quickle... a workout?? We count down together from 10 to 1, calling upon both yoga and cardio moments to get us from the tippy top to the very bottom. At just under 10 minutes, "The Countdown" packs a punch and could be just what you need to get flowing and going! Enjoy!
Quickle #19
Zapando
6:05 | Hand Clapping Rhythm
INFO Your 19th quickle is all about RHYTHM! I learned this hand-clapping sequence from a fellow street performer in Spain back in 2013 (!!) and it's been my favorite thing ever since! I do my best to break it down for you - I will say it's helpful if you are already familiar with counting music and something like "1 and 2 and a 3-y-and-4-and" doesn't freak you out! In video form, it's yours to rewind as much as possible to nail it down! Try it on with your favorite songs and jam out to your little rhythmic heart's fancy, and be sure to file it away to impress folks at post-Covid parties...

Baby Barre
9:17 | Abbreviated Ballet Barre
INFO Calling all former dancers out of retirement! Shake the dust off your ballet shoes, throw on an elegant turtleneck, pin up that cinna-bun, grab a chair, and join me for a simple, compressed barre practice. Sequence includes a warm-up, pliés, tendus, rond de jambes, frappés, grand battements, and a révérence. The moves are simply called out as we do them - so feel free to follow along, or perhaps watch the combination first, then rewind and join in! Please ignore my regrettable lack of turnout - I always relied on an expressive upper body to hide the parallel third position I shamefully called my "fifth" 😬 (sorry Mr. Mader...🙈) My hips and legs have been so confused my whole life - from gymnastics, to ballet, to modern dance, to more strict ballet, back to tumbling again - and onto a yoga mat! Phew! It's a lot for these old hips to keep track of! 😅 Alors, on danse! Set to tunes from the fun album: Ballet Goes Pop; Volume 1 - you can find the playlist for this baby class here: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5PmQhglP4rk3pZUYXQS19j
